new water pump, same old problem

RE: new water pump, same old problem
that sucks. i can't imagine that it's from the hci swap though. i've bought brand new thermostats that were bad before. quick question on the water pump. is there a small spring in it like a chevy has that opens with the heat like a thermostat? i've always wondered that about ford water pumps.

I looked inside it, but i didnt see any springs. You cant really see much though.... So far i am gona go get a new cap. Also, Would the overflow not being hooked up cause it to overheat? The line going from the radiator to the bottom of the overflow is kinda kinked until i get some more hose.

Yeah, I put a coolant tester on my radiator and found a small leak at the goose neck. Then put it on the cap and it wouldn't even pump up. I bought a new cap, thermo gasket (thermo was just put on), and a short heater hose that might have been leaking and the it didn't overheat any more. I put the new cap on the tester also, but it wouldn't pump up either. But I put it on anyway, and so far so good.
I was told it was a pressurize system and if the cap wasn't sealing the water wouldn't flow right? Don't know it to be the truth but sounds like it could be.

now that would not be cool! How can i tell if its a head gasket? compression test? Also, it got dyno'd with this problem. The problem started on teh way to the dyno. I still put out decent numbers with the problem. If i had a bad head gasket wouldnt i hav eput out horrible numbers?

What is it doing? Just over heating? If it blowing antifreeze out into the overflow? Are you losing any coolant?
You can test a head gasket with a compression test
