Well I'm not exactly rich as a detective either, lol. Making $21.95 / hour. I'm not poor, but I could be making a lot more money if I left and went to the private sector. Especially with my level of training, etc. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, certified computer forensic examiner, licensed pilot with instrument ratings and type-ratings for twin engine jets, certified SCUBA rescue diver....

and here I am taking the lowest paying job of all of the above possibilities, lol.

I turned down a dodge charger lat month to possibly get a 07 stang for an S.D.I. car and I might take detective one day rigth now I have to much fun in the road

ive always wondered where alot of ppl get the money to do this stuff to their cars. i guess there are a lot of older ppl on here tho. im 18 and im flat broke all the time!!

I definately miss the road, that's for sure. But only sometimes, like when I hear the hot calls over the radio. Or when I hear them screaming by my window code 3. But I still get to do some of the fun stuff. We usualyl do about one SWAT raid a month or so, so that is pretty intense. Man I love those flash bangs! And I do work overtime in patrol every now and then.

Definately don't do it until you're ready though, because it's so different than patrol. The one bad part is... I'm always on call... 24 / 7. I can get called in at any time of the day or night. Also, when I was in patrol my day off was my day off. But as a detective, if I am away, my work just gets backed up on my desk. If I don't get to do it, then it dodesn't get done. It's an endless flow of cases. At least in patrol, whatever I didn't finish would get passed on to teh next shift or someone else would take the call for me.
