Anyone know if you need tall valve covers for 1.7 rocker arms?

I was wondering if I would need tall valve covers for 1.7 rocker arms? (302/5.0)

You don't necessarilly "need" them. 1.7's will fit under a stock valve cover, however, it will require some removal of material. The baffle will have to be removed and the stantions/stanf-offs ground down. Also, some of the protusions under the cover "may" need some grinding, depending of type of rocker. Granted, you will have the covers on and off several times to check for clearence, but it's easy to do if you're looking for that sleeper look. Just put the valve cover on and rotate the motor, by hand, to see where the rocker(s) hit. It helps to remove the spark plugs to make it easier to rotate the motor. I've got TFS 1.7 RR's under stock valve covers. I've also had Cranes fit under them too.
If you go with a taller valve cover you'll need a spacer under the upper intake, otherwise the upper intake and throttle body will hit the valves covers. Depending on how high the covers are and spacer used, you may need a cowl hood unless you already have one. A friend wanted tall valve covers because they looked cool, which they do. But he didn't realize he needed a spacer and cowl hood.

No you dont, you have to grind down the baffles, in the stockers. But taller covers will work also but then you gonna have to get a intake spacer because the valve covers may hit the intake, then if ur intake hits your hood ur gonna need a cowl hood, and with cowl hood your need paint and with paint ect.... You get the picture its a vicous cycle
