RE: HELP!!!!!!What to DO?????????
i say 429. You can still rev a 429 and its still like 7 freakin liters. Unless you wanna go REALLY big and stroke the 460 to god knows what. but i have driven trucks with 460's. they boogey, but i think driving a big honkin engine on the street that wont rev past 4 grand would get annoying after awihle. You gotta have some RPM ability sometimes. i say 429 or stroke the 460 out.

so a bigger engine redlines sooner??? Is that why like hondas and acura's don't redline until like 7 at least?

RE: HELP!!!!!!What to DO?????????
think about it...with a 460 at 3000 rpm think of how much faster the piston has to move up and down to keep up with the crank than a 429. a 460 has a longer stroke, so it has way more piston speed since 3000 rotations per minute is 3000 rotations per minute, so the piston has to move way faster since it was way more ground to cover with a longer stroke, so you cant necessarily rev it as high. bigger engines can rev high with a light rotating assembly and a cam that will let it do it, have fun driving it on the street though.

RE: HELP!!!!!!What to DO?????????
car craft had an article where they took a 460, did a HCI swap, and rebuilt and made an easy 500 horse though. just didn't rev very high and made MASSIVE amounts of torque off idle, which could be a bitch to drive on the street on street tires. like if your trying to pull out into traffic and hurry up, youd probably break loose VERY easily.
