Default Dads mustang.... pics inside.

Well, I figured while I was down here this weekend for Thanksgiving I would snap a few pics of his 88 GT to try out my new 6.1 megapixel camera. What do you guys think? He needs a taillight and is getting ready to repaint it the factory red instead of this weird yellow.

The engine is far from stock, but we have no idea what has been done to it. We know the timing has been advanced quite a bit.

Its an auto, but it does the strangest thing. When you start off in it, if you let off the gas as it gets ready to shift it wont shift. It'll stay in whatever gear it was in. You gotta be on it for it to shift. Then it shifts pretty hard and firm. Doesnt slip any even at 5500 rpms. Any idea what could cause this?

Here are some nasty engine pics. You can see remnants of the S/C setup that he hasnt removed yet. Dunno why it got taken off.

He is debating over going back with the louvered tails or maybe some lx or cobra tails for a cleaner look. Opinions?

doesn't that air pump make a bunch of noise ?

i like the tropical yellow, a very rare color but w/ the red jambs i can see why he wants to change it.

do i see an eibach kit? sits like mine

possible the line pressure is too high (on the tv cable) or the shift kit is just that firm
if it's not slipping and it is positively shifting and has always been that way thats probably it.

The car sat up for 3 years in a garage before he got it and it still fired right up. Doesnt smoke or leak anywhere. It's just dirty and needs some parts painted. You cant hear the smog pump, and the alternator is relocated under the smog pump and the S/C was in that spot. He hasnt touched the engine as of yet and I know it looks stock, but I've got the same 88 at home, and it isnt anything like this one performance wise. The car has 160,000 on the odometer, but the speedo doesnt work, so we have no idea of the mileage. And the color choice wasnt the greatest and he has no idea who picked it. It isnt a factory yellow. It isnt faded. It sucks up close and was painted in someone garage and that is the color they wanted it to be. But he is gonna clean up the engine like new, and repaint the car soon. And yes, you do see an Eibach kit. And he hates it because he cant jack the car up easily.
