Default Gauge electrical question

I just recently got my electrical fixed and the guy said that its ok to leave my car alone without disconnecting the battery (cause that what i used to have to do)...but when i turn my car off the gas gauge still reads how much gas i have, coolant still reads and oil still reads...i thought that when you turn your car off they all go down...just wanna know if the gauges all go down or still read when car is off?...thats about it

Default RE: Gauge electrical question

not exacty sure since I have disconnected my stock gauges, but I always thought that the gauges got their power from a circuit that is only hot when the key is on! I guess if you wait and the battery doesn't die overnight, then you're OK now. If it does, then go back to square one and start checking again.
