Default Can some1 please explain differentials?

I am really confused on differentials. First of my car is a Factory 1992 Mustang 5.0 (was never a 4cyl). I don't know what it is called but I thought all 5.0 had a differnetial that allowed both tires to spin(burnouts and such). Ok, in a 5.0 book I have it says that it is called a limited slip differential. But I always thought limited slip gave you the "one wheel wonder", a guy i know has a v6 camaro (its a 1 wheel wonder) and he claims only one wheel spins because of his limited slip differential (he doesn't really know what he is talking about though but thats what i thought also). I was under the impression that an open diff is what gave you the 2 wheel burnouts.
B4 some1 says go out and light em up, I have street tires and I want to baby them for a while (just got em) but when I launch hard or floor it from a stop it kicks to the side and spins them abit (I don't know if just 1 spins or both). Is this a sign of anything? What is the 2 wheel burnout diff that is good the strip? What diff does my car have?

Some1 please correct me.
Thanks,
Jimmy

Hope my post isn't too confusing

an open diff will only spin 1 wheel. what you have is a limited slip . ford calls it a trac-lock

your trac-lok can wear out though, and only engage the single wheel

but if it's squirlly, it's probably gettin both.

trac-loc = posi

different names for different brands IE: ford VS gm

+1 on all the above, if the backe end gets squirley you are most likely turning both. A one-wheel wonder will normally not push the back end sideways very much.

yeah if your getting squirley you are spinning both tires when you spin one you get a crap load of smoke on one side and it takes for ever to accelerate in first gear
