I did all the body work on my 66 and they charged me $1600. That was the third teer paint job which doesnt include a clear coat. but they did sand the whole thing, primer, and prep for paint. It came out good.

ahh dont go to maaco they have very crappy paint...no offense but i would definatly search out a local paint shop. my dad was a professional painter definatly find someone that goes for quality not quantity
If you tell them what paint to buy and the paint code its no different from any other shop.

i was wonderin what everybody paid to get there cars painted at maaco...how much do they charge if you do all the body work and primer it yourself???
WHy do all that and then pay them to do the easy part? Body work and prep are 99% of the job. People think they can do body work and have Maaco spray it and look good. If you can prime it you can spray it. Besides then you only have yourself to blame when it looks bad.

painting is definitly not the easy part. So much involved.
For $1600 they charged like $600 of that to sand the top layer of primer off since I used rattle can primer which is ****ty.
This is what I got for $1600

Are you a painter?....Did'nt think so, but I am and I can tell you that spraying the car is WAY easier than doing the body work, there is way more involved in doing a real paint job than you realize, unless your just going for a cheapie scuff and shoot.

I am saying that all of us dont have the materials and skill to do a good paint job. but we can do a decent amount of body work. Its not that hard and not that expensive to fill small dents with bondo. And different macco shops have different stilled painters. Not all are ****ty and not all are good. It all depends on the individual painter's skills. And you can get them to use good paint if you tell them to.
