??? I thought that your mileage would go down! Well, thats good news to me since I want to put a set of 3:73's in.
You can believe it parrothead! After I put the 3.73's in mine and adjusted the TV cable for my AOD, the Stang actually got better gas mileage then it did with the stock 2.73's. I read somewhere that the lower gears get the engine up in rpms quicker and this makes the AOD shift into higher gears sooner, so it is more efficient as far as gas mileage is concerned. this only applies if you don't have a lead foot mind you! I once got 330 miles out of a tank on a trip from Richmond to Englishtown NJ on a cool spring day where I could cruise at 70 mph on the interstate with the windows closed. I was sweating the last 30 miles or so because I had never gone over 300 miles on a tank before, but it turned out OK. I also remember when the Stang was still stock going on the same trip, putting 270 miles on it before I stopped for gas and it only took 10 gallons! 27 mpg on the highway! When I got to the races and parked next to a young guy with a 5 speed Stang he was bitching about only getting 12 mpg with his and I didn't have the heart to tell him about my 27!
well ya i went to flordia and i got 25mpg and 27mpg. I have the 3:73s. Then in town i never really looked at what i got. hmm i should do that and go to the track one of these days.
I get around 6-8mpg. Gotta love that C4 & the 4.10's 60mph @ 3100rpm. [sm=smiley20.gif] Roundman, you can take your 27 & go to hell.[sm=icon_beat.gif] J/k I just bought a 5spd to put in when I get my engine fixed. & If it comes to it I have some 2.73 gears
