Default upper intake spacer

im buying a gt40 upper and lower intake system and it comes with a 1" upper intake spacer... will i have enough clearence between the intake manifold and the hood or will i have to dump the spacer? thanks

the spcer is pretty much just in cases where you have taller valve covers and need the clearence... if you dont need it, dump it... I dont believe a 1" will clear the stock hood

If you have a 87-93 then yes you will have enough space to clear. If you have an SN95 then you might be too high. I would try it anyways and see. just don't slam the hood down. hehe. Ease it down first and just push it closed. see if it locks and check for distortion in your hood above your intake. See if it bulges by hitting the intake. you might be able to remove some of the liner on an SN95 car to make it fit.

It does help, it cools the intake air from the upper to the lower because the Phenolic material doesn't get hot. Its not much of a gain, just better air comming in the lower intake

but you forget, if you still have emissions on it, exhaust air goes through the upper and lower intakes... which means the upper will still be hot as hell from exhaust and the lower intake is water cooled, so its probibly cooler than the upper already... its a waste to use the spacer unless you have taller valve covers
