Default IDLEING PROBLEM HELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP

OK I was driving my 86 stang today and I was at a stop then i noticed my car just started to idle very high I say bout 3500rpm. It stayed that high until I shut the car off . I unhooked the battery 4 10 mins. I started it back up it would'nt hold idle for nothing after 7 more tries it held idle . But when I was driving it on the freeway it well start stutter like it was about to cut off. When I got on the street it will idle up high then it will start to stutter then it will Idle low . Iono wat this could be could it be my MAF sensor? Cuz about 3 weeks ago sum water got into my CAI and into my MAF sensor but I dried them out and it ran fine intill now could i have fried it or sum thing or wat??? Please help

You shouldn't have a MAF sensor on a 86 mustang. They are speed density cars.

ok, ANYTIME you have an idling problem with your 5.0 or 4.6, clean your IAC. it will be the cause, 95% of the time.

but hes driving and it cuts out.. thats not the IAC

sounds like u may have a bad ground in the electric system.. maybe something got fried?

also check your TPS voltage as ive heard this will make the car do some weird things while operating

Also your ECT sensor or wires to the sensor could be bad

This might sound odd but I fiddled with my battery cables and that has helped my idle some.

OK how do I check my IAC and Wat is the IAC? Also wats THE IAC sensor how do I Check that? And the TPS is the throttle positon sensor right? Im still leaning toward that it might be My MAF sensor because when it got wet that 1 tyme wen I fixed it was doing the same thing ill turn it on and it would'nt stay on (would'nt hold a idle)and when i drive it will try to cut off . Im a try a New MAF sensor First thing.
