Default Detroit Locker vs. spool

I currently run a strange spool in my car and have heard that a detroit locker will give me drivablity on the street yet hook hard at the track. Anyone running a detroit locker? My car pulls the front end though first gear and i am worried about tailing to one side with the locker. Its alot of money to change my setup to eat the wall. But tires get expensive driving it on the street with a spool.

My spool is direct drive. I am asking how well the lockers that dissengage around corners work coming out of the whole at the track. If there is slippage going around a corner when you put serious power to them do they hook equally?

Yes most detroit lockers will give you decent driveability, certainly better than a spool or minispool

a detroit is 100% anytime there is torque to the wheels. it baerly takes any gas in a corner to lock them up. they do unlock sometimes when they start to get some use on them. when they are new they dont unlock for anything. you wont see a problem with 1 wheel spinning with a real detroit. an ez locker or other you may but the origional is no bs lockup.

you can buy alot of tires for $500 though

I had a ezlocker in my jeep and all i can tell you is dont get it! You will break it very quickly, the detoit is much stronger. The lockers do hop around and tires bark when going around turns though. You can also look at Eatons electric locker, its can be an open diff or fully locked with a flip of a switch. Go to an off road site you will get better answers from the scince alot of them run lockers. The Eaton is worth the extra cost if you drive on the street in my opinion.
