Im guessing they are steel plates? Just wondering because I am going to be running a D&D tubular front suspension and I never really thought about what gspfunk said.....

The differences in subframes will be shape (square, rectangular, or tubular) and the wall thickness. Most are ~.120-130" thick. XL subs are longer and will stiffen it up a little more...

I have the D&D K-Member and tubular A-arms, MM caster and camber plates, with the QA1 coilovers. I love that set up. MM is the best. Click my photo album to check it out.
