transmission help

i have a t5 tranmission, i xam uncertain of the year, the syncros are shot in the first gear, Due to the complexity of this project, i am asking for any tips involved with pulling apart a t5 transmission,
I know for a fact that this is a four cyl t5 transmission, it is not the orginal transmission due to the junk yard markings i found, and the input shaft is a tad too small, and i am running an 8cyl, i have heard mixed reviews of this sort,

I will probably need to replace the entire syncro assembly, and chances are good it will need a gear as well,

my first problem occured upon removing the shifter assembly, i have never rebuilt a transmission before, so i will probably ask a lot of questions to try and prevent any mishaps, Forgive me, i am un certain of the names of some of these parts, but upon removing the shifter assembly, i reveild the fork and a box like contraption, it appears to have a tiny pin in it, but i am un certain of how to remove it,

Do i even need to remove the box, or will the entire back end slide apart any way as is?

I have a good understanding of how a transmission works, but any help would be appreciated

dude your inover your head send it to me;)... i can help you the best i can but with out you knowing the names of things thist is going to be hard, take pictures of the parts your talking about it'll help me understand what your talking about..... the "box thing" is help in with a roll pin, get a roll pin punch and a hammer and tap it as far down as it goes, then make sure all the sensors and bolts are taken out of the tail shaft (back half of the tranny) then unbolt the tail shaft from the main case(where the gears are) and push down on the "box thing" and pull on the tail shaft wiggle it up and down to make it come off (much easier with 2 people)
