A lot of people have false info on the sportsman block. It amazes me. I find it hilarious how everyone who talks like they know about them has never run one. Put stock next to a sportsman and tell me they are the same.

I find it hilarious that you defend it just because you have one. So tell me, what makes them so much better than the block that I have in my car right now? Does Ford also give false information about how strong the block actually is?

ORIGINAL: gspfunk

347 is your displacement=cubic inches.

A 347 is a 302 block bored over .030 and then it uses a different crank and longer rods (3.40" as opposed to 3" on a stock 302 or 3.25 on a 331). ...sounds like a nice motor/block. What's the rest of your combo?
From what I can decifer from this lame print out which by the way whoever typed up had no idea about cars, its a 302 sportsman block with edlebrock aluminum heads, gt40p valvetrain, edlebrock intake manifold (upper & lower), edlebrock 70mm t/b, steeda #19 cam, full msd ignition, aluminum d/s, billet flywheel, 36# injectors, sct chip, bbk lt headers, prochamber mac muffs (dumped), Tremac TKO tranny, 8.8 posi rear end with custom HD trail arms and tokico suspension package, vortech sq S/C, tri-ax shifter, 3.33 gers (dunno if thats right), HD radiator, some upgraded shift fork, and thats pretty much all I have found or can read off this paper.

Maybe he meant 3.27 gears or 3.55's. No such thing as 3.33's.
