There ain't nothing wrong with using the technology built into the car to self diagnose its own problems and then fix them yourself. Not many gearheads I know have the computer diagnostic equipment necessary to do this themselves and auto shop owners need to make a living too you know! Go for it and be sure to keep us posted on the outcome as you have my curiousity up for sure on this one!

Well i took my car up to a shop and got them to run the diagnostics on it. 80 dollars just for that, and it came up with having a bad EGR valve?well i went a head and told them to fix it, cause im ****ing lazy and just wanted it fixed. so after 232 dollars its working fine again. think i got to tune my distrubutor back i dont likw how it idles now lol. i hate little stupid things that cost money.

why not just disconnect the negative battery cable for at least 10 minutes to delete the KAM (keep alive memory) in the ECU and then see how it idles after you reconnect the cable?

sounds good, quick and easy. think with the bad EGR valve it could be still being retarded after having it replaced? ill do this today and see what it does.
