Default kaf question
Does taking out the maf screen cause a check engine light? I just took my out sunday and now I have a check engine light.

no it will not. what else did you do to the car at the same time? what year is your car? 90? you could have bumped another connector so try unpluging and re pluging stuff back in.

I put a '94 MAF on my '92 and it doesnt have a screen and theres no issues with the CEL from it.

More unrestricted air flow and Id say its safe because the newer one I have doesnt have a screen and the aftermarket ones dont either.

ford put the screen there because they are over protective, it's there incase something somehow gets past the filter
