If your doing a rebuild on the motor im guessing your going to a bigger cam. Call the cam company and ask them what they recomend. If you use the stock converter and a big cam it wont idle in gear, thats what hppened to me it idled in neutral then dropped it in drive and it stalled. That was in a camaro.

i have a 94 gt with 176,000 mile on it and this winter i am plannin on doing a basic rebuild, motor and tranny, and shift kit and probaly 3.73's. my question is wat torque converter u guys would recomend? i was reading that my aode comes with a 2300 stall and it isnt worth upgrading it. I was looking into a b&m holeshot 3000 but there like 580 bucks!!!

For a basic rebuild I'd consider the B&M Holeshot 2400. Its a better choice than a stock replacement and you certainly don't want to reuse your old one, so I would not say it is not worth it. Edge builds custom converters for racing. Are they worth the money for a mild rebuild?

Plan on a retune of the pcm to make it all run clean when you are done. You definately want it to lock up in third and fourth. A cooler would be advisable also.

get the motor built first. any custom converter company like edge is going to want all your cars info. and yes its worth it. you can knock .6-.7 off your 1/4 mile times. thats like gaining 60-70hp.

converter should be your last purchase on a complete rebuild. the converter maker will need all your motor info, gears, weight and tires.

just be careful about getting a converter that stalls higher than the RPMs you run at highway speed.

cam and convertor are very closely related, you wouldnt want a huge cam and 2600 stall youd be launchin before your even in your powerband.
