Default need expert advice.

Okay so my car is in my sig.... I looked it up in the Chilton Book the 11th number/letter in the VIN and looked up the rear which stated 3.45...... not posi.. never realized if both wheels spin or not but the car can do some donuts.. my friend seems to think that i have posi rear but really clueless... any help? Also, would it be pointless to upgrade to 3.73 gears?

did you check the little tag on the rear diff? that would also tell you what gears are in the car....as long as someone didnt change then prior to you having it.

if it is that 89 mustang in your post then it came stock with 273 gear and it is a limited slip posi. Any car with horsepower will lay a set if you dump it or powerbrake. jack the rear up and spin one wheel. if it is posi, then both wheels will turn in same direction. if its stock limitd slip then the other wheel will go the opposite way.

they are prob 2.73 gears. stock
go with a 4.10 gear if you have a 5 speed.

the 3.55 are okay if you are using a turbo or supercharger with lots of boost to make up for the gear.

if you drive it every day, go 373 or 355, not much difference. With gas prices today, if its the every day driver, i wouldnt go 410
