Default Considering an 85 rag

I have a chance at a nice 85 ragtop, auto, 1 owner 50k miles. asking under 5000. What should I offer and what should I look for? I had a hatchback back in 86 but it was as new with only 18k when I sold it so don;t know the problem areas.

And this one would be a part time car kept in sunny FL for a few weeks a year use. Thanks

Also, just noticed the auto has only 180 like the 84s. Anything that can be done reasonably about that? I know the later autos were the same as the sticks(like my old 85 was).

That is a pretty good price if it is on the up-and-up. I like the 85's, and it was the last year for a carb which will probibly make it worth more later on in life (Guessing here) if you plan to keep it for 10 years or so and in good condition. Plus you can't beat driving around with the top down.

Agreed. Does the automatic have ony 180hp and fuel inj?

There must be some basic mods to make 200-200+ hp if it's injected.

Damn, what a project car. Needed paint, one rust spot happening under trunk lid, needs top, good detailing, water in the headlights....ugh. Brought back memories though.
