i wouldnt recommend any oil additives, but thats just me. i work at autozone. and as far as a filter id recommend the motorcraft, for hte 5.0s its fl-1a. and as far as oil i was using mobil 1 5w-30 fully synthetic but i switched to mobil 1 5w-30 with synthetic blends.

yea youll recover lost oil pressure due to it becomign greasy and gunky. having low oil pressure isnt necessarily a bad thing, as long as its not REALLY low. fords are notorious for having low oil pressure anyways. the only way id recommend using the oil additives is if your burning like a quart a month or more a month. thats just me though, when i useto help a friend rebuild motors ive seen the effects of it myself.

lemme get this straight my brain is slow today... your saying that oil additives such as lucas oil stabilizer will increase oil pressure because the oil viscosity is thinner (lower)? right, so how would this be a bad thing on a motor that has typically required 10psi of pressure per 1000rpms, using the additive will increase pressure and thus eliminate the worries of pressure drops at high rpms. I'm just confused here... what structural effects will this pose to the motor?

oil additives increase your oil pressure because it thickens the oil which after a while it turns into gunk. its bad for the motor and the only way id ever use it is if my car was burning atleast a quart a month.

I wouldn't use a synthetic oil with high mileage cars..be ready to see alot of unsuspected leaks.

I use that Castrol High Mileage oil, i dont really notice anything different..it's just what i use.

my DD car gets valvoline full synthetic and AC delco filters and it doesn't leak.
