what is the best oil,

RE: what is the best oil,
10psi for every 1000 rpm is a good rule of thumb. The 5.0 does NOT need that much pressure to lubricate everything well. Volume should be a consideration however because pressure just means that the pump has resistance - not that everything is getting enough volume to stay properly lubricated. Loss of oil volume in a pushrod motor is about as common as someone burning an engine up over the brand name of the oil they used! LOL
I prefer motocraft oil as it is a synthetic blend, or valvoline organic. The viscosity you use is up to you. IMO, you are a fool to use anything other than 5 or 10w-30 and don't need to unless there are other problems. Putting a band aid on a gunshot wound is not a good solution to the problem, likewise with using oil thick as tar to compensate for low oil pressure. I love how they put that little tapered nozzle tip on the end of the lucas bottles. HAVE FUN SQUEEZING THAT CRAP OUTA THERE PAL!
I am in no-way sarcastic when I say this but unless you have a track car - your oil pressure is just fine if you can't hear it knocking...
I don't know if you guys that use mobil one in your 5.0 ever run low on cash, (god knows I do) but one way to prevent such a situation is to use good 'ol organic oil. Change your oil at 3000 miles and you will be fine with just about any oil. Let your car go for 7-10,000 miles on synthetic and you have more money than sense. Oil breaks down and collects fuel/moisture and I don't care what the hell its made of.
