CLUTCH KEEPS NEEDIN ADJUSTED
yeah im hoping i can get a lil help on my clutch.i have a 90 5.0 and it has had a new ram clutch in it. Its got a summit quadrant/cable/fork/firewall/ adjuster kit. The problem is that it keeps getting to the point where i have to tighten up the firewall adjuster to get it to shift into gear. its been expanded so far i had to put the cable end on the highest adjustment on the quadrant. After a driving a few days it starts getting stiff, hard to shift and i have to tighten it up some more. Hoping someone can help me, or tell me why is it that i have to tighten up the adjuster more and more?

RE: cable keeps getting slack.
probably the cable. but make sure that the adjuster isnt turning back in. theres a small allen screw on the side to tighten the adjuster and make it stay in place. and make sure the bolts arent loose on the adj cable.

RE: cable keeps getting slack.
The pedal seems normal nothing out of the ordinary. The clutch could be wearing fast cause when ur getter hoot it kinda smells alot, and not really like gas either. Im pretty sure the firewall adjuser isnt moving back in. I dont know what it is, its like i drive it one night and its fine and the next day its like i have to tighten it up like a 1/2 turn to work. I guess ill just see what happens after time...

RE: cable keeps getting slack.
hmmmmmm, so taking a look is the only way to find out really. Would the throw out bearing or pressure plate keep making more slack; and does the cable geting slack mean that the clutch is getting thinner(wearing)?
thanks

a clutch can burn that fast if it's not installed properly...
and the fork is one of the "fingers" that the throw out bearing pushes on

no it sounds like your adjusting more tension into the plate or bearing, the clutch itself couldn't burn that fast.
