I'm rebuilding a 5.0 for a project truck. My question is how much can the stock connicting rods take. I'm looking to run about 300hpon the motor. I am going to run .030 over forged pistons. I also need to kon how much the stock crank will take. I'm not looking to put much money in it now but in a couple years I may put in a stroker kitin it.
Another question: the motor is out of a '91 lx. What type of camshaft does it come with? hydraulic or solid roller or what? Also, can the stock heads support 300hp?
+1. the 5.0l short block is actually really nice in factory trim. forged pistons and rods stock. crank is cast though like most factory engines. anyways, yes a stock 5.0 short block will hold up to 300hp just fine... the heads will hold you back alot. the factory e7's are pretty much junk unless you have them ported alot.
