My guess is that this is the carb you have.
It has an accelerator pump on it. But if it is stock, I doubt that is the problem. My guess is that it is just in need of adjusting. If the pump was messed up, it would be because it is broke. And that would just cause it to go lean when you step fast on the peddle.

it's not the timing chain.........yet....valve was replaced on rebuild...i did everything to that carb and it still popped when revving it....the diaphram...when i took it off.....the plunger kept sticking...very hard to push in and out....
i thought if i sucked really hard the engine speed would have changed???...<yeah say what you want on that remark
now when i kept advancing the timing the pop went away...knowing this is at idle i already know what road duty is going to be like[&o][:'(][:@]

not sure on pressure...what should it be at?..5psi?
pump?...since 1979<yeah i was thinking about that too.
don't get me wrong i'm thing chain too,but if it is so be it....i sprayed water over it...the old style sleeve is pretty flimsy though.....
