sup all, i buddy of mine just got a 2006 cobalt ss/sc. does anyone know anything about these cars, are they fast he immediatly started talkin smack that he would smoke me. i have an 89 notch with headers off road h and catback, 373s and a fenderwell cold air kit. oh ya and its a 5 speed. whatcha think? can i take him? would it be better of for me to do it from a roll or from a dead stop?

^lol, that'd be worth videotaping! Let him know just because it's as SS doesn't mean it's like the old camaro's or Monte Carlo's. My suggestion though is to take it to 60mph on the highway or to the track for a slip and some proof, either way be safe and represent! You'll kick his ***...

I wish i knew more about bolt-on gains for the 5.0. Stock SS/SCs run like 14.4 with a great driver (and 12.3s if u talk to cody.... but i havent seen him in awhile.... maybe this will bring him back ) since its boosted and FWD they do better from a roll and will lick the heels of a PI gt (14.0 quarter). Chances are he cant drive worth sh*t tho or launch that thing. I have no idea what you can do, but if you can beat a 14.4, u should be in pretty good shape.

keep in mind that the cobalt he has has a supercharger. They are actually kinda fast. Between the supercharged cobalts and the supercharged minicoopers... I'm not sure which one is more deceptive.

Cobalts are fast, but they are also supposed to be good bit slower than the SRT-4

It will be somewhat close, but you should take him.

Just checking some stats, it seems that they are 205 HP / 200 TQ. Tht's not bad for a stock 4 banger. Considering the 5.0 is only 215 - 225 HP, although it has considerably more torque.

Not saying the cobalt will win. Jusy saying that they are supercharged and not as slow as people think.

with his mods alone<which is enough for 14's and some 13.9's>bump some timing and you'll be a little better.

bump the timing do it from like a 20mph roll. those cars are light, and the minicooper is more deceptive.
