Default pistons and heads

am putting together a 5.0L on a buget. trying to decided what to do with heads. I cant afford aluminim. Whats the best way to go with cast. and no....i dont want to talk about GT40P heads. I saw some Ford racing heads that are 2.02/1.60. Part number M6049 N351. Dont even know if they are available or for how much. Anyone know of a good aftermarket cast head? World products??

Also, I would like to spray NOS. Do I need forged pistons? What type/brand of piston is best for the buck?

your stock pistons are fine as long as you dont detonate, which is a problem no matter what pistons you have

you need to do a bit more research. Those heads are still going to run you into the $1000 range.

Get in touch with Thumper (Mike Schultz) at www.thumperoforangepark.com and ask him about GT-40 iron heads. Im having him port my stock gt-40's and mill them a small bit.. I will be in the area of 300rwhp when im done with my build.

you dont NEED 2.02 intake valves... i still think they are too big

Roush is selling some heads in the $800-900 range that seem to work(flow) as good as Aluminum ones.
I'm not realy convinced that there is any more power in aluminum heads anyway even though I'm using TFS, they came with the car.
The Roush heads are 1.94 valves which I think maybe better for most 306's anyway.....
Also try www.aerohead.com.......
