From what I have heard yes they are put there to prevent vibration BUT they are also "tuned" to your factory gears so it essentially bcomes useless if you change the gear ratio's. Also if you install an aluminium driveshaft you probably won't need it either, but whats 10 pound really?? a tenth of a tenth in the quarter??? LOL

vibration gets worse this is why most go to a aluminum drive shaft with 3.73 up to dampen vibration

I have an aluminum d.s. ,373gears, hpm upper control arms, megabite lower control arms, solid motor mounts, and all poly bushings in the rear. I'm not worried about it causing wheel hop or vibration. I'll let ya know if I can feel a diff when I drive it but thats not gonna happen untill the procharger/intercooler install is complete.
