Default H.O. 5.0 questions(there's a few)

Ok, I'm pretty sure I got a steal on this car, it's a 1990 mustang gt with an h.o. in it, with only 46,000 miles, I picked it up off a kid that obviously didn't know what he had. $1000 buck is what put it in my shop. that catch, big stall, no trany cooler, with big gears took the stock trany to it's death, quick. No I must have been a ford baby at heart, led astray by the sappy chevy boys from around here that swear up and down that there cars are unbeatable, well I've done my research, and if there done right, MUSTANGS WILL EATUM UP!!! I know enough but there are a few small things I need to ask you guy out there that know your mustangs better then I.

Are you ready, because there is a few questions I have.

1. I understand that there is a power difference between a stock 302 and an H.O., but what is it on the motor that take it there, I know that it has a different firing order then a stock 302, it follows the lines of a 351c, or 351w.

2. down in the bottom left corner of the car theres a can, with a hose that runs all the way up and plugs into the bottom of the intake, is this a water catch of some sort??

3. what can I do to remove the air pump?? what does it do, I followed the line around to the back of the head. I know it will take a new belt, but why is it on there, I heard it supplies fresh air to the exhaust, is that for the o2 plugs??

4. turboed pony boys, you think a 60-1 is to much for a stock motor, I know that 450hp is about the most you want to push with stock internals, I don't like the twin setups, to many pipes, not clean looking,(well, unless you have a kit or 10k in fab equipment). I'll have the lag, not much more with the single, but it looks cleaner, and I've had that setup on my 383 s-10. let me know what you think.

well I'm sure I have more questions, but this will do for now, Let me know boys, I eat this s**t up, if I'm not under the hood I'm on here soaking it in!!

Default RE: H.O. 5.0 questions(there's a few)

1- compared to the regular 5.0, the H.O. has the truck heads, roller cam, different firing order, and more power

2- possibly a vacuum canister or oil catch can

3- get a smog pump eliminator pulley instead and keep the same belt

4- ???
