Thats what I figured. The IAC is just letting air flow wide open. That adjustment is for idle if the IAC is in a closed state. When you get a good IAC you will have to readjust that.

i think i just found out how stupid i am. i just looked at the intructions for the part and it looks like i have to mount it the opposite way the stock one is. ill post a pic in a sec. never mind my friend has my usb port.but it shows a basic pic of where the stock one is and then the aftermarket one is placed in the opposite direction.

Hey MadMac. I just cleaned my tb and IAC and know my 93 stang idles high. When I unplug the IAC the idle stays the same. I think the IAc is the problem on mine. Would you agree?

Installing the IAC backwards is common. Wish I had read this thread earlier. Thats the first thing that came to mind. The engine vacuum sucks the pintle open - giving you a high idle.
