Default Catalytic Converter

Question I have is if I remove them off a 91 GT will it cause it to run any different? Do I need to add some kind of mod or just fill in the gap with pipe? I live in Georgia and am aware of the laws but screw em if they can't take a joke right? hehe

an offroad h or x pipe will bolt right in, and you won't need anything except maybe new bolts, and some high temp silicone to further prevent leaks. it will run a bit stronger, but not really any different.

Your 5.0 will sound meaner with gutted cats or no cats at all. Youll likely need working cats however if your state requires a sniffer test. They could fail you if you dont have them at all. Depends on the test faciltiy as others have failed basic inspections just from a windshield banner.

Im sure youve read all this stuff but ill post it anyway.

If your vehicle is: a 1982-2003 model year gasoline-powered car or light-duty truck (up to 8,500 pounds gross vehicle weight rating) registered in Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding or Rockdale County.

The three most recent model year vehicles are exempt from emission testing each year. For registration in 2006, this includes all 2004 and newer model year vehicles. Additionally, vehicles that are 25 model years or older are exempt from emission testing. This includes 1981 or older model year vehicles.

For 1995 and older model year vehicles:

You should have received a Georgia Vehicle Emission Inspection Report showing which area(s) of the test your vehicle failed. Emission test results are certified by the state. Inspectors have no control over these results. In addition, inspectors have no way of knowing why your vehicle failed based on test results alone.

A diagnostic analysis must be performed by a quality repair facility to find out why your vehicle failed one of the following areas:

Excessive carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) or hydrocarbon (HC) levels in your exhaust emissions, which can be caused by a variety of vehicle problems.

A damaged or missing catalytic converter (if originally equipped, an operating converter is required by law).

A leak in the fuel cap, allowing harmful vapors to escape.

Im in PA which for me atleast, a visual inspection is required. I need all my emissions but theres no sniffer.

i just gutted my cats. its sounds meaner and allows more flow while still looking legal to the normal eye. obviously you get alot more exhaust fumes but who doesnt love the sound of muscle. i have an extra pair of cats so i juss switch em up wen its time to smog. if youve got like 100 bucks you could just buy a off road h pipe.
