i've owned my fair share of fords from a 63 falcon to a 01gt. they all flickered/dimmed at one point...you never notice these things when they are not as obvious...idle issues?...have you checked vac at all?

Thanks Grab. I used to check vacuum every other day, the old fashioned way...with flammable liquid. I haven't hit it with a gauge though. What equipment will I need to do that (as I doubt my motorcycle mercury sticks will work).

You know the funny thing about the flickering is, I just drove the car a lot tonight, and it didn't do it once...at idle or cruise. Weird.

Oh yeah, another thing I just remembered that may set off a whistle in someone's head is this: When I used to use my cruise control, the car would surge like a champ. I figured I had a vacuum leak somewhere in my cruise control lines, so I disconnected the C/C system, and capped off that fitting on the vacuum tree. That, like everything else, had no effect on the rough idle. I've also noticed that sometimes when I was running the A/C, the car would surge...although it was barely perceptible. Could these things be related to my rough idle?
