my reccomendation is that you get a new harmonic balancer anyway, its new engine,might as well get a new balancer just for longevity

when my balancer went bad u could hear it plus it shook really bad

check your plugs again sounds like they are out of order or you could be 180* off on the dizzy

i just checked them again and re-timed it using TDC...still have the same exact problem,when i tried it 180 degees off,wouldnt even start....so it might be the balancer...but when the car idles and i look at the balancer it seems fine....so can u see it when its bad? or should i just go ahead and put the original one that came on the motor back on?????

i changed my balancer yesterday. i had the same problem. changed it and no more shaking. see if you can move the balancer at all. i could move mine thats how i knew that it was bad

being able to move a balancer up and down, its been bad for a long time. chevy balancers make a wicked knock noise, fords shake the car. also, you say you used the 95 balancer on the 88 engine. that could be the problem right there. i'm not sure, but the difference in years could also mean a difference in crank balance weight.

yea,diffrent weight....thats possible...when u say your car shook,would you say that it started as a vibration?

84 to 95 should have the same balance.
