Default T-56 6 speed

Can you get a Tremec T-56 that works with a 302 ('94 Cobra 5.0 specifically)? I got a line on a 30,000 mile '94 Mustang Cobra take out engine, complete from oil pan to intake, with wireing harness, computer and everything to go in my car ('69 1/2 Ford Maverick). I have been looking around on ebay and stuff and it seems all the 6 speed transmissions I see state they are for the 4.6 engines only.

The EFI '94 Cobra engine in the old Maverick will be cool already (as well as a great basis to improve upon), but I just thought a 6 speed trans would be really cool. I will go with a 5 speed if there are no other options. Hope this question dosen't sound too dumb. [&:]

Thanks for any help.

yeah go D&D, i was going to go viper spec T-56 but that costs too damned much and the 6th gear really doesnt help you much, save your money get a TKO600 and put in some gears in too

You can but why? They are weak, exspensive and have the same ratio in 6th as your T5 does in 5th, plus 1st gear has a crappy ratio for good launches.

Why? Because I thought it would be cool. And I have never drove a 6 speed car, so I wasn't sure if there was any acceleration to be gained due to the closer gear ratios. I plan to go with either a 3.55 or 3.73 gear in a stock 5 lug Maverick 8 inch rear end with the rear disc upgrade from MustangSteve on ebay (already have power front discs ready to go on). The car has a 200 straight 6/C4 trans with a 7.5 rear end and 4 wheel manaual drums. It is currently a daily driver and will continue to be after the engine swap. Just wanting to build it into something even more fun to drive then it already is. Money is not much of an issue.

It would appear I am better off going with the T-5. Thanks for the info.

Why do I need a TKO for a stock '94 Cobra engine that will only see light modification? Especially in such a light car?

your choice, $1500 t-5 then a $2000 TKO or just a $2000 TKO. sounds like itll be a cool car and youll eventually want to add more power, so why not be safe?
