rear hatch button
any suggestions on the rear hatch opener mine has never worked and im not sure when it is supposed to. do i need to have the key on or should it work like the door locks, any time i push it. thanks. its a 1990 hatchback 5.0

The key needs to be on. I thought mine was busted until I read a similar post here.
Kinda stupid really, Id think it would be the other way around so that the trunk wouldnt open when youre driving down the road.

Not working could be a bad switch in the glove box, broken wire, or tired actuator. Check voltage on the switch and then the actuator to see if one is just simply worn out or has a poor connection...both items can be purchased new at www.50resto.com. Mine will work only when the key is in either 'on' or turned to accessory.

if ur hatch struts are blown the electric button wont do it cus its releasing the hatch but it cant lift itself so it just locks again
mine are blown and someone has to lift it as im pushing the button and the key has to be on or using the battery. accessories i dont think will let it work.
