Getting a cam just for sound is a ricer move, nothing more ghey than a mean sounding car that runs mid 14's and gets smoked by Hondas. Other bad advice than needs to be addressed. Springs are a MUST when you swap cams, the stock springs are net even strong enough to control the stock cam (which BTW, is pretty big for a 302). Why do you think stock 5.0's stop making power at 4800 rpm? Because above that the valves float due to the weak *** stock springs. My advice is to keep the stock cam, I have seen cars with stock cams make 300+ rwhp, they are not a bad cam.

okay well lets remember the question what was the biggest cam he could fit and while it may not work well with stock components he could still fit a cam that had a 600 lift could he not
and thats all i said what i m doin wit my car is my thing sorry to have disturbed u in any way
and i appreciate the sarcasm but i was serious when i asked what would u pay for that motor
Well yes it could be put in the block but as soon as the engine turned over the valves would smack the pistons.

I got the GT40 P's with the Trick Flow stage 1 cam and it feels awsome. If you were wondering about the sound.... it lopes like a.....
With a set Flows or Mac's.... it will ting itself to death and make everybody do double takes. It's the best of both worlds.

I agree though, I would much rather listen to a cam and cruise than be the meanest or fastest on the block, which by the way I am, but if your not happy with the power, you can always add a quick shot of No2 to help you out.

Well just an opinion but for relatively little additional money you could find a nice set of GT40 irons...include a simple alpha cam (E or B) or even the TFS1 cam and have a nice solid 13 (some even manage 12's) performer...AND get the nice lopey idle. I know guys who run the B with stock heads and like it, but being how much work a cam swap is I would be inclinded to spend an extra 400 buck on the iron heads and really allow the cam to work MUCH more in a freindly enviorment....instead of 10-15 hp you'd be looking at picking up possibly 60 or so....you WILL feel that.

If your looking for a lopy cam, but has decent drivability, then look for a cam that has lift up to .500-.525 and the centerline of about 114-112. The lopy sound comes from the duration and centerline, 112 will give you a really lopy idle.

you guys know that lift does not = lope right?
i was just about to type this.
all his question is , is how do i get a lopey sound, not what should i do or not. just answer the question....get a cam with 280 - 290 duration and you will have all the lope you want..

and max lift for stock heads with no valve relief is 556 (maybe 554)

Not lookin to steal anyones title...just drives me crazy when people spew out misconceptions as 'facts'....if you don't know the answer then don't guess, doesn't help anyone. No one should ever mock anyone for asking a question (hell I've asked enough stupid ones to fill a book) but I'll mock em every time they state something that's just plain wrong for no reason other than to have input.
