Default can you make good power working stock heads

just wondering if reworked stock heads are a good way to go, i mean having them ported/polished and such

some say if you go nuts with the porting they can flow aw well as tw heads...

gt884 i noticed that you must have went the stock heads worked over route, are you telling me that i should get something else because you are not happy with yours, wish you would have just bought new ones?

That's the way I would go, but as you can see, everyone wants you to splurge for aluminum heads. I like iron heads better myself. You don't have to worry about head gasket problems that way.

Yeah I had them ported and polished buy a machinist, paid 600 to have them done. Basically my first mod. They do give a little more power but for what you can get for new I wish I would have bought new to begin with...Here is a pic..
