Default Voltage regulator

I have a 91 GT Vert that I'm having a problem with. When accerlating at between 2000 and 2500 RPM the volt meter heads to the top of the scale and the Battery warning light pops on. When the tranny shifts and RPM's drop, all goes back to normal. I think it's the voltage regulator but the local parts store checked the alternator/voltage regulator off the car and they say it's ok. Anyone have any ideas? I read a past question on this forum about the possibility of more than one voltage regulator in Mustangs. I can't find any reference to more than one voltage regulator in my Chilton's manual for the car.

Default RE: Voltage regulator

Try and check your voltage regulator located behind the speedometer. That usually causes weird things to happen to your gauges, stereo and other electrical type of components. Sorry, I don't have a part number for you.
