Ok, the actul stall speed of the 'verter, sort of depends on the torque of the engine also.
if you were using a converter of say 3000 RPM behind a 302 and you were to use the same converter behind a 351W the stall would be higher. As in several hundred RPM higher.....

I would also recommend if don't have any is some gears. You feel that stall and kick in nice. 373's are my preference for auto's but everyone has different opinions.
