Is the GT-40 crate motor considered a stock block? So should I spend the money to forge it before I put the supercharger on? and how much would fully forged internals run including shop costs? Thanks guys.

yes it's a stock block....no don't forge it just keep it at or under 450whp and you will be fine. i know more than a few people that have been running 400+whp on stock bottom's for a few years. i know two that have had 500+whp on a stock bottom for almost 2 yrs...but many more that didn't last with that power very long. the tune is very important!! again keep it under 450whp and you're fine. also...no need to get the afr's if you're going to supercharge it...the gt40's will get you to 450whp

then if you decide you want more power build a new engine

so the hyper pistons should be good at that hp range to. And the S/C I was gonna put on was the Vortech with Aftercooler and that says it only ups it 155 hp. So with the AFR's shouldn't that put me around 400-450? http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...ustang_ho.html

It's the Supercharging System with V-2 SQ & Aftercooler for 1986-1993 5.0 Mustang H.O., it's for the 5.0 HO so will it fit my motor?

yes that sc will fit....that's a good kit. just make sure to shop around and and/or ask where other people found the best deal. it will not be from vortech...i guarentee you that. again save the money on the afr's....the gt40's you have will get you the power you're after. the afr will just get you to that 450whp limit with less boost...but i'd gladly spend a few bucks to get a smaller pulley than 1000+ on heads. forget the 8psi pulley...definitely get 10psi. horsepower is the limiting factor...NOT psi. with the aftercooler and a powerpipe you should easily see 400whp with the 10psi pulley. boost is just a measure of restriction....the increase above atmospheric pressure inside the intake manifold. to make my point....say you have the 10psi pulley with the gt40's and see 10psi on the boost guage and make 400whp (just a nice round #)...then you put on the better flowing (ie. less restricting) afr heads with everything else the same...you might only see 8psi on the guage but now make 440whp. again those numbers were just an example...with the 10psi pulley and the aftercooler you should make 400+whp with a good tune. you're going to need 42# injectors, a new pump, and a chip to tune. fmu's are garbage. btw the hp increase #'s from vortech are on a bone stock 5.0

http://superchargersonline.com/

You have to email them to get a price quote. For a Vortech V1 they were several hundred dollars cheaper than summit.

I noticed you're in Albuquerque, why not go Hellion?
