The air bypass valve solenoid is used to control engine idle speed and is operated by the EEC-IV control module. This valve allows air to pass around the throttle plates to control, cold engine fast idle, no touch start, dashpot, over temperature idle boost and engine idle load correction.

Typically, if you unplug your IAC, your car will stall. If it is unplugged, and then you start it will start then stall. To test this, use part open throttle(by foot or throttle adjuster) to hold the rpms up and start it. If it runs, you may have an issue with your IAC
