Default MY TRANNY@!!!@!@!@!

Hey everyone... I just bought a 95 Mustang GT auto. I am having tranny problems it has 75000 miles on it. When i have it in drive and pull up to a stop sign and then take off at about 3000 it shifts at like 2000 or so and it boggs down the engine and it bounces a little from not having enugh rpms.. does every one understang this problem?
I tried to explain it.. it seems like it shifts at the wrong rpms but i dont know why.

Couple of things to check. If (as I suspect) it is an AODE/4R70W, check TPS or VSS. If it is just an AOD, check on the throttle body linkage and make sure that the bushing for the TV cable hasn't deteriorated and fallen out.

Damn glad to hear that I'm not the only one that has happend to! Mine fell out when I was at the track one Friday night years ago and I though I had broken the tranny. Babied it home and got to looking at it the next day and found the TV cable just hanging loose under the throttle cable. Rigged up something to hold it in place until I could go by the dealer and get a new bushing for it.

also 95stang5.0, have you ever changed the fluid and filter in it yet? 75,000 miles is about 25,000 too late to be doing it if it hasn't been done, ain't that right Trannyman???

Just make sure to get the Ford type tranny fluid, can't remember the name off the top of my head but Ford uses a different fluid from the rest of the others. Think it is called Type F to distinguish it from the other kind. I'm sure the auto parts store can make sure you get the right kind and don't forget to change the filter while you're at it too.

Dexron III will work fine. Type F was used with older Ford trannys like the FMX. After 96 most Fords are using Mercon V.
