Default Building my engine right now...

The new cam did not come with a peg/dowel for the timing gear to position on. I tried to take the dowel out of the factory cam and it won't move. Any thoughts???????

Yes yes....thanks for all the help! lol

But now it seems the cam is sitting a little too far back in the block. I haven't put anything else on yet.

When I was doing my cam install it kinda scared me at first because I didn't see that dowel in the new cam! lol. I had to do the same thing though, a good pair of vice grips and some twisting and turning got it out. I also thought that my cam was sitting a little far back in the block but I guess it wasn't. Is your thrust plate worn badly?

Thrust plate is cool....once I got that installed and my cam gear and bushing it brought it all back inline with the lifters. Just got done clearancing my timing cover for the gear drive assembly...going back out now to install the cover and water pump.

Hey, now that you have beat the H out of it and burred up what I consider a very important part of the engine, why don't you get down the the speedshop and get a Comp Cams pin the is a new one?
BTW, red locktite on the new one....
