=\ intake maifold question
sorry for all the questions iv been asking... i just know you guys are knowledgable and can help me out...
but anyway
i was lookin for an EFI intake maifold for my 89 5.8 and all the manifolds have a "basic operating RPM Range" from idle-5500, 1500-6500, 2500-7900 etc etc.... now i doubt mine will revv over 6000 but if i get the idle-5500 whats goin on between 5500-6000?
also... the only idle-5500 intake manifold i could find for the 5.8 was the edelbrock performer Truck manifold. Also ifound a BBk which was unrated for the RPM range....... but which do you think would work better for my application?
thanks again guys and sorry for the trouble

RE: =\ intake maifold question
the RPM range is how you can match your parts to work together. If you get an intake thats idle-5500 and a cam thats 3500-7000.... dont plan on making much low end power. however, is you can find a manifold thats 1500-6000, and match your cam to that... you will have a very nice area for the power curve. sure, itll make a little less bottom end toque... but youll spin the tires less off the line. I could have sworn that trick flow made a lower that bolted to their street heat upper. that should be the rpm range your looking for
something like THIS would be good for you. I believe you can get the upper pre=painted black.. if your interested!

RE: =\ intake maifold question
dont look for an intake that makes powe from idle-5500. no one races at idle so what the hell do you need an intake thats made for idle hp? besides, with a 351 youll have enough torque if you just go with the intake adder posted, its a good one

is there any way i could make her revv to 6500? the motor im getting has a flat tappet design.. im not sure if that would effect revvablility at all

alright well that leaves me with 3 things to be answered then...
how can i make it rev to 6500?
hwo is my engine getting air between idle-1500 if the manifold is working between 1500-6500
what cam ? =)

You would also benifit from balancing your rotating assembly, hardened push rods, ARP fasteners and like AdderMk said, heavy valve springs.
