Still Failing Emisions!!!
Try to figure this out after working on my car I took it in to the test center again and it failed.
3rd Time (Now):
Hydrocarbon 5.1670gpm
Carbon Monoxide 24.3160gpm
2nd Time:
Hydrocarbon 6.4161gpm
Carbon Monoxide 21.2096gpm
First Time:
Hydrocarbon 4.4gpm
Cardon Monoxide 18.3gpm
Legal Limits:
Hydrocarbon 2.5gpm
Carbon Monoxide 20gpm
The first time I just drove the car down to the test center, dead cold. The second time I drove it around for awhile and put some Guarunteed to Pass Emissions Formula in the tank, fully warmed up. The third time I replaced the A.I.R. Pump because it was barely blowing out air, A.I.R. Check valve because it had been welded and ruined the diaphram, set the ignition timing to 10degrees BTDC (it was at 24degrees BTDC with no sign of detonation, this is the weird part.) Even with the timing so far off 24degrees BTDC it drove fine and didn't make and noise, after changing it (SPOUT removed on both occasions) it still drives fine. I have always been told that this much ignition timing would kill your engine by means of detonation. Anyway after setting the timing and replacing the A.I.R. system the exhaust smell isn't as bad but the emissions center says that it is still releasing excessive emissions. Also get this if I try to scan it with an AutoXray 3000 it keeps saying "Vehicle Not Responding." Yet I hook the same scanner to other cars and it connects. The check engine light does light intermittently while driving in cold weather though on the highway and it hot weather I never see it. It will usually come on under load and go away when I upshift. Any suggestions would help.
