If you have to pass emissions, I wouldn't suggest doing that. X/H-Pipes are cheap, then come emission time, just pop the old one back in and you're good for another 2 years. If no emissions then do whatever you want.

take your h-pipe off and smash through the honeycomb inside the cats with a screwdriver or something. once you crack through it, it should all pretty much fall out.

that all depends on how rusted the bolts on the flanges are. mine were kinda rusty, but all came off with handtools and minimal hand pain the tube for your smog pump will probably require the most time to get off, depending on how it was attached. mine just had the stock pipe re-installed before i bought it, so they used a small u-clamp, like an exhaust clamp, to hold that smog tube on, creating a pinch around the whole thing. hard to get off without destroying it, but with careful whacks with a screwdriver and hammer, it can be done. i knew what i was doing, but i did a h-pipe swap on ramps in 3 hrs, with 2 beer breaks

you'll need an 11/16" deep socket for the flange nuts at the headers, with around 10 inches of ratchet extensions, and 13 and 15 mm sockets and a 14mm wrench, if you still have all stock bolts.

hollow cats will be a bit louder when your on it, but if you really want loudness no matter how you drive it, you gotta change the mufflers
