Default Mechanical water temp gauge?

If you have one, did you use the existing bung for the stock sending unit. This is where I ran it from. I have heard others say mechanical gauges could be off when this location on the manifold is used. The gage reads 180 to 195 and seems like it is accurate. Any one else hear this?

That's exactly where I installed mine from and I don't think I'm having any problems with the accuracy of the reading at all. I do seem to remember that I had to modify the bushing some so that the temp bulb didn't bottom out and touch the intake manifold instead of just hanging in the coolant flow. I don't know why people say stuff like this about things. Look at it this way, if the factory who designed the engine didn't think this was a good place for the temperature sending unit, why the hell did they put it there in the first place?

Exactly what I was thinking. I got my spacer from napa so my bulb would not bottom out. Thanks for the reply Roundman.

Glad to help out. As my Mom used to say, "I try to be useful as well as ornamental!"
