Intake gasket leak?

Intake gasket leak?
I think the back side of my lower intake is leaking, just wantingto getsome opinions before I tear into it. There is oilon the firewall, on top of the bell houseing, and sprayed under the car all the way back to the mufflers. Once I saw the oil on top of the bell houseing and on the back of the block I ruled out the rear main.
Also the oil pressure is great on the car, until the motor warms up, then it bounces all over the place.Could the rear gasket on the intake leaking be causing this?
Just bought this car last week, so I'm still in the process of finding all the reasons the previous owner wanted the car gone. But hey I've got a GT with black interior again!! [sm=icon_rock.gif]

RE: Intake gasket leak?
I reached down there last night, and it felt like it was in there, but that's not to say that the grommet isn't missing. One of my other mustangs had thepcv just sitting in the hole with no grommet. I just hope fixing the oil leak will take care of the oil pressure as well.

If you have a mechanical oil pressure guage and its boucing then you have some bearings shot more then likely. A intake gasket leak, pcv leak, or any oil leak for that matter aren't going to cause oil pressure fluctuations.

I haven't put too much faith in the factory guage. The guage will sit on zero and the motor doesn't make a peep. Then it will shoot back up to the "o" on normal. The temp guage has pegged itself as soon as you turn on the car a few times as well.
I learned that these guages are junk when my last GT kept showing that it was over heating, and after a new waterpump, thermostat, and 3-row radiator it made no change. I bought a $4 guage and found there was no problem.[sm=badbadbad.gif]

RE: Intake gasket leak?
how much oil has it been using between intervals?
i dont see oil flying all over the underbody from an intake leak. alot of people have had them and only notice them from oil traces on the firewall.
i would check out all the gaskets (ps/ trans/ rear) before ruling anything out

I've only had the car for a week, so I don't know how much oil it's using. I keep checking the oil level and it's ok. Also checking for the milkshake look, but all is clear. We changed the oil at work right after a bought it and nothing alarmed the mechanic working on it. He just saw all the oil on the underside and asked when we were putting in a rear main.
I've just been leaning away from the rear main because the clutch doesn't slip a bit, and the oil is located up on top of everything. After I pointed out the oil up high he agreed with me.
I work at a chevy dealer, so they don't know Fords very well.
