I went and checked out this 351w roller bare block for sale, and there was some rust inside the cylinders it looks like it might have been sitting outside for some time... how can i tell if its still salvagable it didnt look like it was pitted just maybe surface rust and the guy said it was never rebuilt, i just dont know if its even worth 50 bucks.
What car/truck did the block come from? What year? If its just surface rust that will be fine once you go and get it cleaned up. $50 bucks is cheap, I would grab it.
I say buy it anyway, it's only 50 bucks if it cleans up then you got a good deal, if it doesn't then it was only 50 bucks the good definitely outweighs the bad here.
the guy said that it took a hammer to get the pistons out, i assume thats a bad thing but were the pistons were sitting wast pretty clean, not like they fused in there. I just want a roller block but they are so damn rare and sometimes to expensive. If it needs to be bored out I really hope it wouldnt need to be bored over 60
