I'm shopping for headers. I want to go with shorties because Idon't have the $ to replace the mid-pipe at the same time. I have a few questions and I understand that a lot of this has to do with personal preference/opinion. I'd also like to hear from people who already have certain types/brands installed.

1) Which brand to buy? -BBK, MAC, Bassani, Pacesetter, JBA, Edelbrock
2) What coating? -chrome, ceramic, none + paint them myself
3) Equal length vs. unequal length? I want to go equal length because it's not much more but how much of a difference does it REALLY make.

4) last but not least, does anyone have any for sale that are in gently used or new condition?

i have mac.. in my opinion save up and do long tubes.. but if ya must.. get equals... and that jet coatin is supposed to help according to all the ole hot rod guys, but i've never dyno tested it myself...

I would get BBK's because the have a solid flange but in my opinion, stay away from the individual flange headers like on MAC headers.

whats the difference between unequal length and equal length? oblivioulsy the equals are all the same length and the other are not, but performance wise is there any difference?

we need a sticky on this.

equals supposedly improve scavenging because all the air hits the collector at the same time, so the air from each primary isnt "bumping into" the air from the others
